In addition to the announcements below, you can stop by the Newman Center front desk to order your very own Newman Center polo, a design that you’ve seen some of our staff and students wearing. Freshmen, Sign up for the Freshman Retreat!
Until September 17
The Freshman Retreat will be on September 21-23 at La Purisima Retreat Center near Sierra Vista, AZ. You don’t want to miss it! You can sign up at the Newman Center front desk (in the lobby) whenever the Newman Center is open. This is the last week to sign up for the Freshman Retreat! The cost of the retreat is $75, and for more information, be sure to check out uacatholic.org/freshman. Get ready to Get Rocked!
Theology on Tap
Tuesday, September 11 at 7 PM
Theology on Tap is a speaker series every second Tuesday of the month at 7 PM that takes place in the fun, relaxed setting of your favorite local pub. “ToT” focuses on topics of faith and contemporary issues that directly affect the lives of young adults, located at O’Malley’s Pub on 4th Ave. (247 N 4th Ave).
Karaoke Night: “Sixties to Dye For!”
Friday, September 14 at 7 PM
We invite students to a relaxing and fun night of karaoke in Green Hall! In addition, to the side we will have snacks, play board games, and even tie-dye shirts, so be sure to bring a shirt if you want to tie-dye. Bring your friends and come if you’re looking for a good time!
Liturgical Ministry Training
Saturday, September 15 at 9 AM
If you are interested in serving on any one of the Liturgical Ministries, such as being a Lector, Altar Server, or Eucharistic Minister, you need to attend one of the Liturgical Ministry Training sessions, even if you have served on one of these ministries in previous years. Last week was the first session, this is the second session, and there will be one more session on Saturday, September 29 at 9 AM.
Football Game Tailgate Party
Saturday, September 15 at 3:30 PM
Come to the Newman Center for hamburgers, hot dogs, and a good time before our football team takes on South Carolina State. The Newman Center is the place to get ready and excited for the game!
Monday – Friday at 5:15 PM
You can go to Mass every day! I want to encourage all of you to come to Daily Mass whenever you can as a way to deepen your spirituality and relationship with God, so that Mass doesn’t become a Sunday obligation but a way to grow closer to God. In addition, you may always join us for Morning Prayer at 7:30 AM and Evening Prayer at 5 PM (right before Mass).
Serve at Casa Maria Catholic Worker House
Mondays and Thursdays at 8:15 AM
Casa Maria is a Catholic Worker House that serves the poor and homeless in South Tucson. Only a few miles away, this community of workers provides members of the Newman Center with the opportunity to serve and grow in understanding of the mission of the Catholic Workers. If interested, meet us at the Newman Center at 8:15 AM on Mondays and Thursdays. If you have any questions, contact Sr. Angelica at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Pope Benedict XVI Reading Group
Mondays at 7:30 PM
All Graduate Students and Young Adults (ages 22-35) are invited to the Pope Benedict XVI Reading Group with Fr. Jacek Buda, OP. During each meeting, you’ll read a portion of Pope Benedict XVI’s book Introduction to Christianity and discuss. It is a great way to learn more about the Catholic faith!

We invite you for a time of quiet prayer during Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament every Monday night in the Newman Center Chapel.
Tuesdays at 7 PM
We invite anyone who is interested in becoming Catholic and anyone who is not Catholic but interested in learning more about the Catholic faith. We will meet in the Newman Center library. If you have any questions, contact Fr. Donald at email@example.com.
Wednesday Student Mass
Wednesdays at 7:30 PM
Every Wednesday night we invite all students to our Wednesday Student Mass! At 7:30, we begin with a time of praise and worship to prepare our hearts as we transition into Mass. The Mass is unique since it features a discussion homily. After Mass, we always have different types of snacks and invite everyone to hang out.
Social Justice Speaker Series

Join us for our monthly Social Justice Speaker Series, which includes a speaker and refreshments. All are welcome to join as we discuss different aspects of Catholic Social Teaching.
St. Albert Science, Faith, and Spirituality Sessions

We invite students, faculty, and anyone else interested for a time to engage current issues where faith, science, and spirituality share a common ground. This week there will be a presentation by Fr. Bart Hutcherson, OP, on “A Catholic Reading of the Creation Literature of the Old and New Testaments”
Friday, September 28 at 8:30 PM
All students are invited to meet at the Newman Center at 8:30 PM to carpool to Fiesta Lanes for a time of bowling and hanging out with your Newman Center family! The cost is $11, which includes unlimited bowling and shoe rental. Turkeys (three strikes in a row) will be awarded with a high five!
This year’s Undergraduate Retreat will take place at La Purisima Retreat Center, and it will be titled “The Door of Faith.” More information will be announced soon, but be sure to mark your calendars now!
Benedictine Monastery “Come and See” Weekend

Are you a single, Catholic woman between the ages of 18 and 47? Is God tugging at your heart, urging you to consider a religious vocation? If so, join the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration here in Tucson for a weekend of prayer and discernment.
