Letter from the Pastor – October 28
With the election rapidly approaching, it is important for us to reflect on the intersection of our faith and public life. In most recent national elections, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops has published a simple voters guide under the name of “Faithful Citizenship” intended to help Catholics better form our consciences for exercising our voting privilege and responsibility. I have published the short form of that guide as a two page insert in today’s bulletin (to read, click here). I hope it is helpful. There is even more information available on the Bishop’s Website: usccb.org.
Thursday is the All Saint’s Holy Day of Obligation. I hope to see you at one of the worship opportunities offered on Wednesday evening and Thursday.
On Saturday, December 1 beginning at 9:00 AM, I am going to host a four hour mini-retreat to prepare for the beginning of the new liturgical year. There will be 2 presentations, an opportunity for prayer, and lunch. The focus of the day will be “The Apostolate of the Laity” and the practical side will be a suggested course of prayer and study for the “Year of Faith” which is currently under way. I will be saying and publishing much more about this as the date approaches.
