Letter from the Pastor May 5
Dear Friends –
This weekend we celebrate three important events which also signal the end of the year: On Friday evening many gathered in the Dominican community garden for this year’s parish appreciation party. We are blessed to have many, many people involved in the various ministries of the parish and the parish staff welcomes this opportunity each year to say “thank you” to the many volunteers of the parish.
On Saturday we celebrated 1st Communion with the children in our RE program. Congratulations to them and their families. I look forward to giving you your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th and 50th communion!
On Sunday evening, we honor our graduating students at our Baccalaureate Mass. Even though this milestone often means that these students are headed away from Tucson, we are very proud of you, very happy and have been thrilled that you chose to be a part of the Newman community while at the University of Arizona. We wish you many blessings as you head to new adventures.
Sunday, May 19th, we will celebrate another “ending” as we say goodbye to Fr. Jacek after two years of ministry at Newman. We will have a luncheon party after the 10:30 Mass that morning in Green Hall. The entire parish is invited and it will be a great time to show our appreciation for Jacek’s presence and ministry among us as we send him off to Eugene, Oregon with our blessings.
As the student community wraps up final exams and projects this week, they head off to various summer destinations. We thank you for another good year at Newman and wish you a restful and productive summer. As always, we look forward to your return in August.
That being said, for those of you who are staying in Tucson this summer, don’t forget that we begin our summer break Mass Schedule the weekend of May 18-19.
