Saturday, October 5 – KINO Border Trip

Sunday, October 6 – Café Justo Sales after the weekend Masses.

Tuesday, October 8 – Theology on Tap. Join Father Bart at O’Malley’s on 4th Avenue. Father Bart’s topic is entitled, “Ain’t Gonna Study War No More: War and Peace in Catholic Tradition” Arrive by 6:30 PM for the talk that begins at 7:00 PM.

Wednesday, October 9 – Respect for Life 24 Hour Adoration begins immediately after the night Mass, 8:30 PM to Thursday evening.

Sunday, October 13 – Primavera Breakfast trip to the Men’s Shelter – If you are interested in helping, contact hgonzalez@email.arizona.edu. Volunteers meet at 4:30 AM, Sunday, October 13. The group returns to Newman by 7:00 AM.

Join the Monday night reading group with Fr. James as they discuss the encyclical, “Lumen Fedei” The group meets in the Newman Library

LIVES OF THE SAINTS

Tuesdays, 6:00 PM

We invite you to join this student led discussion on the Lives of the Saints. Each week we share an article, book, or prayer reflection on the lives of a saint. The group meets on Tuesday night a6 6:00 PM in the Library. Feel free to come and join in our discussion. No outside readings are required.

RCIA INQUIRY

Tuesdays at 7 PM

We invite anyone who is interested in becoming Catholic and anyone who is not Catholic but interested in learning more about the Catholic faith to join us every Tuesday Night at 7:00 PM. SERVE AT CASA MARIA CATHOLIC WORKER HOUSE

Mondays and Thursdays at 8:15 AM

Casa Maria is a Catholic Worker House that serves the poor and homeless in South Tucson. Only a few miles away, this community of workers provides members of the Newman Center with the opportunity to serve and grow in understanding of the mission of the Catholic Workers. WEDNESDAY MORNING SCRIPTURE SERIES

Father Bart Hutcherson, OP

Wednesday at 8:00 AM

Fr. Bart will begin by examining the Prophetic Tradition of Ancient Israel. Who was (or were) the Prophet(s) Isaiah? What are the major themes of Isaian Prophecy? Participants will examine texts from the Prophet Isaiah associated with the Advent and Christmas Cycle of Readings in the Church’s Liturgy. The session will last one hour.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT STUDENT MASS

Wednesdays at 7:30 PM

Every Wednesday night we invite all students to our Wednesday Student Mass! At 7:30, we begin with a time of praise and worship to prepare our hearts as we transition into Mass. The Mass is unique since it features a discussion homily. After Mass, we have different types of snacks and invite everyone to hang out.

24 HOUR ADORATION

October is Respect For Life and Rosary month. We invite you to come and pray with us for the intention of the sanctity of life each Wednesday night immediately following the night Mass. Adoration will include praying the mysteries of the Rosary, morning and mid-day prayer, and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Signup for Adoration can be found in the back of the Church. Adoration will be in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel and begins from Wednesday 8:30 PM to Thursday evening during the month of October. Let us join in prayer for the sanctity of life.

Pasta Dinner – Mark your calendar for Sunday, October 13 Pasta dinner. All are welcome!

HOMECOMING FLOAT CONTEST – The on-campus Outreach Team is holding a contest for the design of the Newman Center Homecoming float. The theme is “Wildcat Planet” and there will be a price for the winner. Please turn your design in to Michael Fritz or the Newman front desk by October 8. Float guidelines can be found at arizonaalumni.com.

Family Weekend – Mark your calendar for the weekend of October 19-20! We will have a Family Pancake Breakfast after the morning Masses!

Coffee & Donuts Volunteer needed – We are in need of a volunteer or volunteers to help setup for coffee and donuts which takes place on Sunday mornings. The volunteer makes and sets up for the coffee/donut reception by 7:30 AM. If you are interested, contact Susan at susan@uacatholic.org
