Saturday, January 25 –KINO breakfast trip. Volunteers will stay for the 5th Anniversary Event at the “Museo de Arte in Nogales, AZ to hear Fr. Alejandro Solalinde, world renowned defender of migrant rights. The Forum is entitled, “Divided Borders, United Voices: Transborder Movement for the Right to Migrate with Dignity”. Sunday, January 26 – National Migration Week – A Pilgrimage In Solidarity With Migrants, Immigrants, & Refugees. Join the parishes of St. Cyril & St. Phillips for a journey to the San Pedro Chapel, 5230 E. Fort Lowell Road. Start Option A: 2:00PM journey to the Chapel along the Rillito River Walk beginning at the Swan Road parking area. Start Option B: 3:00PM journey to the Chapel from the shrine located on the chapel property. Meeting together at the shrine on the chapel property, pilgrims of both groups will process to several stations joining in prayerful solidarity. Maps route available at

Campus Renew Sign up
Campus Renew will begin on January 29 for the Spring Semester! You may sign up either online ( or by completing a sign-up card which may be obtained at the reception desk. Deadline to sign up for the semester is Midnight, January 26.

Dedication Bricks – In honor of the 50th Anniversary of the dedication of the Newman Center Church, we are creating a new outdoor Marian Devotional Space within the existing rose garden. Students, alumni, parishioners, parents, and benefactors are invited to purchase engraved bricks which will pave the renovated space. Each brick is $100.00 and can be ordered at the front office.

Join the Monday night reading group with Fr. James as we discuss the encyclical, “Lumen Fidei” The group meets in the Newman Library and will resume on Monday, January 27, 2014.

Casa Maria is a Catholic Worker House that serves the poor and homeless in South Tucson. Only a few miles away, this community of workers provides members of the Newman Center with the opportunity to serve and grow in understanding of the mission of the Catholic Workers. IF MONDAYS OR THURSDAYS DO NOT WORK IN YOUR SCHEDULE, YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO GO ON YOUR OWN ANY DAY. CASA MARIA IS OPEN SEVEN DAYS OF THE WEEK FROM 8:30-11:45 AM. Starting Saturday, February 1st, we will make it possible for students to serve at Casa Maria on the weekend. If interested, contact Casey or show up at Newman beginning Saturday, February 1st.

Fr. Bart will begin by examining the Prophetic Tradition of Ancient Israel. Participants will examine texts from the Prophet Isaiah associated with the Lenten Cycle of Readings in the Church’s Liturgy. The session will last one hour and begins on Wednesday, January 29.
