Sunday, February 2 – SUPER BOWL PARTY! Game starts at 4:30PM. Join the fun at Green Hall. Pizza and lots of great food snacks. See you there!
Dedication Bricks – In honor of the 50th Anniversary of the dedication of the Newman Center Church, we are creating a new outdoor Marian Devotional Space within the existing rose garden. Students, alumni, parishioners, parents, and benefactors are invited to purchase engraved bricks which will pave the renovated space. Each brick is $100.00 and can be ordered at the front office.
MONDAY NIGHT READING GROUP
Join the Monday night reading group with Fr. James as we discuss the encyclical, “Lumen Fidei” The group meets in the Newman Library and will resume on Monday, January 27, 2014.

We invite anyone who is interested in becoming Catholic and anyone who is not Catholic but interested in learning more about the Catholic faith to join us every Tuesday Night at 7:00 PM. SERVE AT CASA MARIA CATHOLIC WORKER HOUSE
Mondays and Thursdays at 8:15 AM
Casa Maria is a Catholic Worker House that serves the poor and homeless in South Tucson. Only a few miles away, this community of workers provides members of the Newman Center with the opportunity to serve and grow in understanding of the mission of the Catholic Workers. If interested, meet us at the Newman Center at 8:15 AM on Mondays and Thursdays. If you have any questions, contact Casey at email@example.com
IF MONDAYS OR THURSDAYS DO NOT WORK IN YOUR SCHEDULE, YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO GO ON YOUR OWN ANY DAY. CASA MARIA IS OPEN SEVEN DAYS OF THE WEEK FROM 8:30-11:45 AM. Starting Saturday, February 1st, we will make it possible for students to serve at Casa Maria on the weekend. If interested, contact Casey or show up at Newman beginning Saturday, February 1st.
WEDNESDAY MORNING SCRIPTURE SERIES

Fr. Bart will begin by examining the Prophetic Tradition of Ancient Israel. Participants will examine texts from the Prophet Isaiah associated with the Lenten Cycle of Readings in the Church’s Liturgy. The session will last one hour and begins on Wednesday, January 29.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT STUDENT MASS
Wednesdays at 7:30 PM
Every Wednesday night we invite all students to our Wednesday Student Mass! At 7:30, we begin with a time of praise and worship to prepare our hearts as we transition into Mass. The Mass is unique since it features a discussion homily. After Mass, we have different types of snacks and invite everyone to hang out.
SPRING BREAK SERVICE PROJECT – The Social Justice Team will be leading a service trip to The Nature Conservancy’s Three Links Ranch to work on Saving the San Pedro River in southern Arizona. Contact Jeff at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Wildcat Awakening Retreat, February 21-23. Sign—up at the front desk. There is a $20 deposit. The retreat cost is $100 per person and the deposit applies to that cost. There are scholarships available. Space is very limited so sign-up ASAP! The retreat will be February 21-23 at La Purisima Retreat Center.
HAVE YOU BEEN CONFIRMED?
Each semester, the Newman Center offers a condensed course to prepare participants for the sacrament of Confirmation. This semester, the class will meet on Monday evenings, from 7pm to 9:30pm from February 3 to March 31. To apply for this class, one must submit a completed application (may be downloaded at uacatholic.org or pick up a copy from the front desk), meet with Sr. Elizabeth for a brief interview and submit copies of Baptismal and First Communion certificates. The fee for the class is $25. Last day to apply for the Confirmation class is January 27.
TRAINING FOR LITURGICAL MINISTERS:
We will be offering training for liturgical ministers for the spring semester on following days:
- Tuesday, February 4, @ 7:00pm: Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers
- Thursday, February 6 @ 7:00pm Altar Servers
- Saturday, February 8 @ 10:00am: Lectors & Eucharistic Ministers
Each of the trainings will take place in the Church. Come join us!
