This Week at Newman – November 24

NEW EVENTS

NEW STUDENT “HOPESGIVING”
Continuing with our year’s theme of “Anchored in HOPE”, ALL NEW STUDENTS are invited to gather together for an early Thanksgiving dinner: “HOPESgiving”. Come to encourage one another and praise God for His many gifts in the light of hope this semester. Join us for dinner from 7-9:30 pm on Friday, November 21 in Green Hall.

NOVEMBER 23, SUSTAINING BOARD DINNER
Sunday, November 23 following the 5:00 pm Mass, there will be a dinner for all students in Green Hall sponsored by the Newman Center Sustaining Board.

THE JESSE GIVING TREE

We invite you to participate in this year’s Jesse Giving Tree which will benefit Primavera and Stand Up For Kids. In keeping with the Advent Season, we will use the Jesse Tree and symbols as a way to remind ourselves that the Advent season is a time to prepare for the Christmas season. The symbols are labeled with a ‘wish gift’ for a boy, girl, mother, father, or teenager. Please take a symbol and return the gift by Mon., Dec. 15. The gifts do not need to be wrapped. The genealogy of Christ (based on Matthew 1:1-17) is frequently shown in the form of a tree which springs from Jesse, the father of David, and bears as its fruit the various ancestors of Christ. This “family tree” of Christ, has ornament symbols of an ancestor or of a prophecy which foretells Jesus’ coming. As we enter the Advent Season, a season of joyful anticipation, let us pray for one another and keep in mind God’s wondrous love.
