BIBLE STUDY

All are welcome to the San Martin de Porres Chapter of the Dominican Laity Bible Study on the Book of Genesis, which will meet in the Newman Center classroom at 2:00 pm on Saturdays, beginning March 7. At the first session, Sr. Angelica will present an introduction of Genesis. Please bring your Bible.

ENDOW

ENDOW is a Catholic organization that helps women discover their God-given dignity through the richness and authenticity of Catholic teaching. Michele Grantham, nurse and certified educator, will give five sessions which will focus on what it means to be a woman created in God’s image. The sessions will be on Thursdays beginning March 12, 19, 26, and April 9 at 3:30 pm. Contact Sr. Angelica for more information.

SCHOLARSHIPS

The Newman Foundation at The University of Arizona will award several scholarships for the 2015-2016. The application deadline is April 15, 2015. If you are interested in applying, send an email here to request application information.

SUSTAINING BOARD RETREAT

The Sustaining Board will be having a retreat at the Newman Center on Wednesday, March 18th. It will start with Mass in the church at 9:00 am with the retreat to follow. It will be given by Fr. Jay James of St Thomas the Apostle Church. All students are welcome to attend.

LENTEN PENANCE SERVICE

On Thursday, March 26 at 6 pm, a community dinner will be held, followed by a Reconciliation Service (Confessions) at 7 pm.

HOLY WEEK RETREAT

Held on Friday, March 27- Sunday, March 29 in Pinetop, AZ, the retreat will focus on the Triduum through readings and silence to prepare for Holy Week. Cost is $45, but space is limited. For more information, please contact Megan.

LIVING THE MYSTERY RETREAT

Held Friday, April 17 – Sunday, April 19 at Southern Pines Baptist Camp on Mt. Lemmon. This retreat is centered around the mystical Body of Christ-how we enter into the mystery of the Church -of Christ himself and discover our unique places/roles in Christ. If you are interested in signing up or would like to be part of the staff, please contact Dana.

EASTER LILIES

We once again welcome and accept donations of any potted spring flowers or lilies for Easter. Please drop them off sometime during Holy Week. We will decorate the Chapel on Sat., April 4, at 10:00 am. As always, we can use extra help to create a joyful and prayerful Chapel environment.

KINO BORDER INITIATIVE

The Newman Center provides meals to the Kino Border Initiative, a bi-national ministry in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico that supports migrants who have been recently deported from the United States. We are in need of volunteers to travel to Nogales to serve meals to the migrants on April 4, April 18 and May 2. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Casey.

PRIMAVERA MEN’S SHELTER

We are still in need of volunteers for upcoming trips to Primavera Men’s Shelter. If you are not familiar, we meet at the Newman Center at 4 am to prepare breakfast for the Primavera Men’s Shelter here in Tucson and usually return by 6:30 am. The next dates are April 12 and May 10. Please contact Andy or call him at (956) 458-7588 if you are interested in volunteering.

FR. ALBERT FELICE-PACE, O.P. RETIREMENT

At the end of June, Fr. Albert Felice-Pace, O.P. will be retiring after 55 years of service. Fr. Albert served as Director of the Newman Center from 1993-2003. If you would like to send Fr.
