CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL GRADUATING STUDENTS!

We pray special blessings to all who will receive degrees and special recognition! We are grateful to you for your ministry at Newman and promise continued prayers. May the Lord bless you and keep you in His loving care.

NEW STUDENT MINISTRY MEETING

All who are interested in the ministry that welcomes new students at the start of the school year are invited to discuss plans for next year. This will be held at 1 pm on Sunday May 10th in Green Hall.

RECEPTION FOR SISTER ELIZABETH

Next Sunday, May 17th, after the 11:15 AM Mass, we will have a reception for Sister Elizabeth.

BIBLE STUDY

The San Martin de Porres Chapter of the Dominican Laity is offering an ongoing Bible Study.
We will be studying Genesis, the first book in God’s love letter to humanity.
The study will be held every Saturday from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm in the Newman Center Classroom.

Next Sunday, May 17, is the last 7:00 PM Mass for this academic year.
We will begin the summer Mass schedule on Pentecost, May 24th.

SUNDAY, APRIL 26: SUSTAINING BOARD DINNER

The Sustaining Board will serve a wonderful Enchilada Dinner in Green Hall on Sunday, April 26 at 6:00 pm following the 5 pm Mass. Come eat, drink, and be merry! All students are invited! The meal is free of charge and a great opportunity to fellowship with other Newman students.

THURSDAY, APRIL 30: MINISTRY ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING

There will be a Ministry Organizational Meeting on Thursday, April 30, at 7:30 pm in the Newman Library. Ministry plans for the Fall 2015 semester will be discussed. Suggestions and comments are welcome. For questions, please contact Fr. Jacek.

SATURDAY, MAY 2: MONTE CARLO NIGHT

Please join us for a fun evening of entertainment at the Skyline Country Club, Saturday, May 2 from 6 pm to 11 pm. There will be fine dining, casino games, silent auction and some giveaways including 1.5 karat diamond earrings and $500 store gift, a 2-night stay and brunch at the Hacienda del Sol Resort, and a flat-screen television. The evening is hosted by the Newman Center Sustaining Board and all proceeds go to the Newman Center and for scholarships! Tickets are $75.00. For information, contact Jody Slania, 591-1895.
Parents of Newman Center students are encouraged to attend this important fundraiser for the Newman Center!

SUNDAY, MAY 10: PRIMAVERA MEN’S SHELTER

We are still in need of volunteers for upcoming trips to Primavera Men’s Shelter. If you are not familiar, we meet at the Newman Center at 4 am to prepare breakfast for the Primavera Men’s Shelter here in Tucson and usually return by 6:30 am. The next date is May 10. Please contact Andy or call him at (956) 458-7588 if you are interested in volunteering.

LISTENING SESSION WITH BISHOP KICANAS

Bishop Gerald F. Kicanas has scheduled a Listening Session on Marriage and Family here at the Newman Center for Sunday, April 19, from 2:00-4:00 pm in the Main Chapel. At this session he would especially like to hear from the younger set: the recently married, young families, and single college students. However, we encourage all who are interested to attend this opportunity tell the Bishop your concerns about the upcoming Synod on the Family, to be held at the Vatican in Rome, and to hear perspectives on the pressures and stresses in our society and the Church on issues related to marriage and family life.

Held Friday, April 17 – Sunday, April 19 at Southern Pines Baptist Camp on Mt. Lemmon. This retreat is centered around the mystical Body of Christ-how we enter into the mystery of the Church-of Christ himself and discover our unique places/roles in Christ.
