The three pillars of Lent: Prayer, Fasting & Almsgiving

As you journey through the season of Lent personally or as a family, you may find the following resources helpful. You may wish to have the daily scripture readings sent to your phone for you to reflect on throughout the day, you may wish to get together with friends to pray, read scripture, and discuss, or you may wish to read a daily reflection. You will find ideas and supports for these and more ideas in the links below.

  • Laudate – free, includes Daily readings for Mass; Liturgy of the Hours, Complete text of New American Bible, Catholic Catechism, and more.
  • iMissal – free, daily readings, Bible, rosary and other prayer meditations
  • iBreviary – free, includes Liturgy of the Hours plus the Office of Readings, Daily Mass readings, Prayers and Rites.

Newman Center Weekly Prayer Opportunities during Lent

  • Rosary Under the Stars – Tuesdays at 7:30PM at the Highland Bowl on campus
  • Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament – Wednesdays at 9PM
  • Stations of the Cross: Fridays of Lent immediately following 5:15PM Mass
  • Liturgy of the Hours: Morning Prayer every weekday at 8:30AM in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel
  • Liturgy of the Hours: Evening Prayer at 5PM in the church
  • Daily Mass: Monday through Friday at 5:15PM
