As you journey through the season of Lent personally or as a family, you may find the following resources helpful. You may wish to have the daily scripture readings sent to your phone for you to reflect on throughout the day, you may wish to get together with friends to pray, read scripture, and discuss, or you may wish to read a daily reflection. You will find ideas and supports for these and more ideas in the links below.


Newman Center Weekly Prayer Opportunities during Lent

  • Rosary Under the Stars – Mondays at 8PM at the Highland Bowl on campus
  • Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with choir – Wednesdays at 9PM in the chapel
  • Stations of the Cross on Campus – Good Friday at Noon – meet at the east steps of Old Main
  • Liturgy of the Hours: Morning Prayer every weekday at 8:30AM in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel
  • Liturgy of the Hours: Evening Prayer at 5PM in the main chapel
  • Daily Mass: Monday through Friday at 5:15PM

Calendar of Events: Lent/Holy Week 2018

  • Saturday and Sunday, 3/24 and 3/25 – Closing of Operation Rice Bowl, bring them to Mass and turn in during the collection. Any checks should be made payable to Catholic Relief Services
  • Sunday, 3/25 – Palm Sunday Masses at 9AM, 11AM, 5PM & 7PM
  • Monday, 3/26 at 2PM – Chrism Mass at St. Augustine Cathedral
  • Tuesday, 3/27 at 7PM – Lenten Reconciliation Service
  • Thursday, 3/29 at 8AM – Tenebrae: Chanted Morning Prayer for Holy Thursday
  • Thursday, 3/29 at 7:00PM – Holy Triduum: Mass of the Lord’s Supper
  • Thursday, 3/29 from 9:00PM to midnight: Altar of Repose/Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (downstairs in Green Hall)
  • Friday, 3/30 at 8AM – Tenebrae: Chanted Morning Prayer for Good Friday
  • Friday 3/30 at NOON – Stations of the Cross on the UA Campus, meet on east steps of Old Main
  • Friday, 3/30 at 7:00PM – Holy Triduum: Good Friday Liturgy
  • Saturday, 3/31 at 8AM – Tenebrae: Chanted Morning Prayer for Holy Saturday
  • Saturday, 3/31 at 7:00PM – Holy Triduum: Easter Vigil Mass
  • Sunday, 4/1 – Easter Sunday Masses at 9:00AM and 11:00AM – there will be no evening Masses
