“God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.”
1 John 4:16
Baptism is the most important step in a Catholic’s life. It begins a lifelong relationship with God, in Christ, through the Holy Spirit.
If you are an adult interested in becoming Catholic, please contact Fr. Thomas (email@example.com) about participating in the RCIA Program (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). RCIA Inquiry, a time for anyone of any faith to ask questions about Catholicism, meets on Monday nights at 7:00 PM in the Newman Center Classroom. Candidates will also meet for formation each week following the 9:30 AM Mass on Sundays.
If you have a child that needs to be Baptized or you have been asked to be a sponsor, you’re required to attend a Baptismal Prep Class. We offer a class on the third Sunday of each month after the 11AM Mass. To attend this class please register in advance by calling the office or emailing Sister Angelica at firstname.lastname@example.org. If no one registers by the Friday prior to the session, the class will be cancelled until the next month.
The Sacrament of Confirmation completes the process for full initiation in the Catholic Church. This Sacrament of the Holy Spirit seals the gifts within us that God provides. The Bishop of Tucson has given the Newman Center special permission to host a shortened formation program of eight weeks. Confirmation classes are held on Tuesdays during the Fall Semester and Mondays during the Spring Semester. College students and High School Seniors whose parents/guardians are registered parishioners are eligible to sign up. For more information, please see our Confirmation Ministry page.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered on Saturday 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM and and Sunday 4:00 PM – 4:45 PM (or by appointment with a priest). The Reconciliation Room/Confessional is located by the northwest corner of the chapel.
Contact one of the priests at the Newman Center if you are interested in marriage preparation. Couples who are interested in celebrating the Sacrament should contact one of the priests at least six months prior to the proposed wedding date.
Anointing of the Sick
Please contact one of the priests if you or someone you know would like to be anointed because of sickness, injury, or surgery.
Everyone at the Newman Center is encouraged to discern God’s call for their life, and we pray in particular for those who may be called to the priesthood or religious life. For more information, see our Vocations Page.
