Becoming Catholic – Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
Are you thinking about becoming Catholic?
Do you know someone who is interested in the Catholic Faith?
Do you simply want to know what it means to become a Catholic?
Often these questions are a sign that someone is searching for a deeper relationship with God.
Throughout the year, members of the Newman RCIA team are available to meet with anyone interested in talking about what it is to be a Catholic, why we do what we do, and what is involved in the process of “becoming Catholic”.
RCIA, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, sessions are held during the “academic year”, early September through the first week of May. Participants attend:
- Sessions on Thursday evenings 7:00-8:30pm
- Sunday Mass at 11am -12:30pm, includes a reflection on the Bible readings heard at Mass
The first step for someone interested in learning about RCIA and the Catholic faith is to contact Margaret mkishaz@aol.com and set up an informal meeting to discuss the process and see if it is a good fit.

Following the initial meeting, the application can be downloaded here:

For those who consistently participate in the sessions and Mass, who deepen their faith through prayer and reflection, and are sincerely committed to a life of discipleship with Jesus…. they may receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil.
